The entity that groups the French ports of Caen-Ouistreham, Cherbourg and Dieppe, Ports of Normandy, has deployed its new Port Community System (PCS), Nomade, a digital platform that aims to centralize and optimize the management of port calls and operations. Furthermore, it facilitates exchanges between the different actors of the port community, such as maritime captaincies, shipping companies, port services, operators, customs, etc.

Nomade has been developed by the company Easyport EIG as a single, collaborative and secure window, designed to centralize port call data and coordinate all operations related to the ports of call and the port area; automate and harmonize data exchanges; streamline and simplify administrative procedures; and strengthen traceability and regulatory compliance.

Philippe Deiss, General Director of Ports of Normandy, underlines the “ease of use, intuitive interface and flexibility” of Nomade, because it allows the tool to be adapted to the specificities of the ports, such as the activity across the Channel, the main market for the Norman ports which totaled 6.5 million tons and 3,250 ship calls last year.

The deployment of Nomade marks a new decisive step towards the modernization and digitalization of the ports of Normandy, thanks to the commitment and mobilization of the port communities of the concerned ports and represents “a guarantee of compliance” with the obligations of the European Maritime and Port Single Window Regulation which will come into force in the year 2026.

The launch of the new PCS Nomade is the first step on a path in which the intention is to gradually integrate new functionalities to reinforce the digital transition and enrich the services offered to the ports of Caen-Ouistreham, Cherbourg and Dieppe. Specifically, progress will be made towards the “paperless port”, the tracking of ships in transit via the AIS system, and progress in waste management, in line with the EcoPorts initiative of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO).
