During the early morning hours today, the Port Authorities of Paxos, Corfu and Igoumenitsa were informed by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (J.R.C.C.) of the HeadquartersH.C.G.-HELLENIC COAST GUARD of an incident involving an object caught in the fins of the passenger-ferry (/G) vessel “PAXOS ISLAND II” N.P. 8037 during the execution of a scheduled route from the port of Corfu to the port of Paxos with 41 passengers and 6 crew members.
The E/G – Y/G sailed autonomously to the port of Gaios, Paxos where it safely disembarked its passengers. By the Port Station of Paxos, the departure of “PAXOS ISLAND II” was prohibited until the submission of a class maintenance certificate from the classification society monitoring it.
