During the midday hours today, the Port Authority of Saronikos was informed by a lifeguard of the Megalo Kavouri sea area about an incident involving a female swimmer drifting on an inflatable sea mattress.
Immediately, the local emergency plan of the area was activated and a patrol vessel of the Hellenic Coast Guard (H.C.G.) sailed, while the nearest water sports rental business was notified. The 34-year-old foreign female swimmer was located and recovered by the H.C.G. vessel, while nearby, the female lifeguard who had swum from the shore to provide assistance to the 34-year-old was also located and recovered. The two women were transported, in good health, to A’ Alipedo Voulas beach with the assistance of a vessel from the water sports rental business.
