The 2026 cruise season at the Port of Pesaro includes a total of 23 calls until November, of which 14, starting from the end of March, correspond to the ships Athena and Artemis, from Grand Circle Cruise Line, which organizes trips in the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas, and nine to the Royal Clipper, a five-masted sailing ship that will dock for the first time this season on June 28 and for the last time on August 23.
With a length of 134 meters, the vessel has a capacity of 227 passengers and its design is inspired by the lines of ancient merchant sailing ships. Upon its arrival, a traditional welcome ceremony will be held for ships docking for the first time in a port.
The city of Pesaro and its surroundings continue to attract the interest of international cruise companies, which is confirmed by the season’s program, which will feature the sailing ship as a novelty, with nine calls between June and August.
Furthermore, the shipping company Star Clippers, in addition to confirming the presence of the sailing ship this season, contacted the Central Adriatic Port Authority to explore the possibilities of visiting the city and its surroundings, and to determine which places to offer to passengers.
This represents an opportunity to boost tourism with the arrival of cruises, and the Port Authority will consult with the relevant offices of the Municipality of Pesaro to gather informational material and deliver it to the company in time for the first arrival.
“Among the tasks of our Authority, in addition to coordinating the cruise season, is also the promotion of the hospitality opportunities offered by our ports and the fostering of knowledge of the regions they serve,” declared Vincenzo Garofalo, special commissioner of the Central Adriatic Port System Authority.
“As we have been able to verify on repeated occasions, by hosting cruise tour operators and participating in the main international trade fairs in the sector, the regions of Marche and Abruzzo are attracting growing interest from this sector. This is an opportunity to increase maritime traffic and make cruise passengers fall in love with these unique places,” added Garofalo.
