San Antonio Port Company announced that, within the framework of the international public tender for the construction works of the Puerto Exterior project, the final list of prequalified companies and consortia for the development of the initiative has been defined.

This final register is composed of Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors B.V.; Jan De Nul NV; China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.; the Consorcio Dragados Sacyr Obras Portuarias S.A., formed by Sacyr Chile S.A. and Dragados S.A. Agencia en Chile; the Consorcio Grupo CRCC, integrated by China Railway Construction Corporation (International) Limited, Agencia en Chile, and CRCC Harbour and Channel Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd.; and the Consorcio Acciona–Hyundai, formed by Acciona Construcción S.A. Agencia Chile and Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd.

With this definition, all these companies and consortia, which met the technical and administrative requirements established by the state-owned company and accredited a broad track record in the construction of large-scale maritime infrastructure worldwide, are enabled to submit their bids in the next stage of the Puerto Exterior works tender process, as established by the process rules.

“The formation of this final register confirms the success and solidity of the tender we have promoted. Having world-class companies and consortia demonstrates the high interest generated by Puerto Exterior and reaffirms international confidence in the technical capacity and strategic projection of Puerto San Antonio. With this stage completed, we advance with total certainty in a very competitive, transparent, and high-standard process, which, without a doubt, will be very valuable for awarding the construction contract for the most important port work in the history of Chile,” said Ramón Castañeda, general manager of Puerto San Antonio.

The tender contemplates the award of a contract for the construction of the breakwater – approximately 4 kilometers long -, the dredging for the creation of the basin and the access channel, the platforms, the railway access with two stations and work facilities, along with environmental compensation and mitigation measures. This will involve an investment by San Antonio Port Company of USD 1,950 million.

The tender schedule considers the receipt of bids in January 2026 and the award of the contract in March of the same year.

The project

The project will be developed gradually in four stages, according to demand projections, and, in full operation, will have the capacity to transfer 6 million TEUs per year, which is equivalent to approximately 60 million tons of cargo. Furthermore, the complex will be able to simultaneously receive up to eight 400-meter-long vessels.

The total investment plan is estimated at USD 4,450 million, of which USD 1,950 million will be contributed by San Antonio Port Company for the construction of the protective works, the creation of the basin, backup areas and access roads, in addition to environmental mitigation and compensation measures. The remaining USD 2,500 million will be contributed by the private sector, through port concessions, for the construction, enabling, and operation of the sites.

Puerto Exterior will begin operating with its first stage, with an 865-meter-long wharf, around the year 2036, adding an available capacity of 1.5 million TEUs annually.

The complete project considers the construction of a breakwater (approximately 4 kilometers long), dredging, and platforms that will give rise to two semi-automated terminals of 1,730 meters each.
