Qingdao – The offering at the port of Qingdao expands with the new service, provided by Gemini Cooperation, which represents an extension of the Jebel Ali–Far East route. This is the fourth maritime connection managed at the Asian hub by the alliance between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, which employs eight large container ships. With this new connection, the port of Qingdao has launched a total of 11 new container services this year, setting a historical record. In the first five months of the year, the port added three new routes under the “Belt and Road Initiative”—one to the U.S. West Coast, one to the East Coast, and two toward South America.
