Against the backdrop of accelerated construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, the Phase II project for 5G data backhaul of the gantry crane system at Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port Qinzhou Terminal Co., Ltd. has achieved full network coverage. This marks Qinzhou Terminal as the first within Beibu Gulf Port to achieve comprehensive deployment of a customized 5G network, providing replicable practical experience for the digital transformation of regional industries and activating a new engine for the development of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor.
The project, from the foundation of Phase I to the expansion of Phase II, has achieved deep coverage across all scenarios. In the Phase I project, China Telecom Qinzhou Port Branch (hereinafter referred to as “Qinzhou Port Telecom”) innovatively adopted the “Neighbor” mode of a customized 5G network, precisely overcoming network deployment challenges in complex environments. It efficiently completed real-time backhaul of high-definition video surveillance and gantry crane CMS data, fully validating the immense potential and core value of 5G technology in enhancing port intelligence levels.
The implementation of this Phase II project extends the mature experience comprehensively to all gantry crane systems at Qinzhou Terminal, establishing a fully-covered customized 5G network support system. This not only significantly enhances the intelligence level of production scheduling and on-site operational efficiency but also provides robust assurance for reducing costs and increasing efficiency in port operations.
Deepening the integrated application of “5G + Smart Port” and accelerating the pace of digital transformation. Since the beginning of this year, Qinzhou Port Telecom has closely aligned with the development opportunities of the “Digital Port,” continuously promoting the innovative application of “5G + Industrial Internet” technology in port scenarios. The successful construction and efficient operation of the Phase I and II 5G backhaul projects have successfully created a benchmark model for “5G + Smart Port” in the Beibu Gulf. The experience and solutions formed from its comprehensive coverage construction provide replicable practical experience for the digital transformation of the Beibu Gulf port industry.
Huang Chen, General Manager of Qinzhou Port Telecom, stated that the company will continue to take “5G + Platform + Computing Power + Application” as the core path, deepen digital infrastructure construction and application innovation, accelerate the integration and penetration of 5G technology into various core port operations, assist in the continuous upgrade and iteration of Beibu Gulf Port’s intelligent construction, and consistently contribute “Qinzhou Wisdom” and cutting-edge solutions to shape a new vision for China’s smart ports.
