Gabon’s Ministry of Economy, Finance, Debt and Participations has announced the official reinstatement of the Sovereign Carbon Contribution, enforceable for maritime operators.
The Sovereign Carbon Contribution has been incorporated into the draft Finance Law for the fiscal year 2026, with retroactive effect for the year 2025, making it payable for all operations conducted as from 15 June 2025. Payments made before 31 December 2025 will be exempt from penalties.
Shipping companies operating in Gabon should regularize all amounts due for calls performed since 15 June 2025.
