A newbuildharbourtug has been introduced to a towage fleet in the Gijon region of northern Spain to enhance ship handling and docking
RemolquesGijoneseshas namednew azimuth stern drive (ASD)harbourtug,RG Nora, in the port of El Musel, in northern Spain, after its construction by Armon Shipyards.
This subsidiary of Junquera Marítima Group is modernising its fleet and strengthening towage services at the port with the introduction of this 29-m,423-gttugboat, which the company said was designed to achieve maximum efficiency in ship handling and docking.
RG Norais the first of three ASD tugs Armon is building for Remolques Gijoneses with the other two scheduled for delivery in 2027.
It has a beam of 11 m, a draught of 5 m and a bollard pull of 71 tonnes and it powered by two Rolls Royce-manufactured mtu series 4000 M65R diesel engines with 16 valves in V formation.
These high-speed, four-stroke engines each delivers power of 4,000 kW at 1,600 rpm, to drive two Schottel azimuth thrusters and are connected to a selective catalytic reduction to reduce NOx exhaust and comply with IMO Tier III emissions standards.
