The RMC Group’s revenue for 2024 was EUR 341,250,155.60. The company’s operating profit increased significantly in its tenth year of operation compared to the previous year, reaching EUR 661,528.52, whereas a year earlier it had been in the red by over EUR 32 million. Financial expenses, primarily consisting of interest costs on equity loans, weighed on the overall result.

The coronavirus pandemic and, subsequently, Russia’s ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine, now in its fourth year, have significantly impacted shipbuilding. The most notable effect has been the nearly 40% increase in cost levels since the contracts for the ships currently under construction at the shipyard were signed. For the profitability of operations, it is therefore crucial that future contracts anticipate the shipbuilding index and rising costs.

During 2024, RMC continued development work to enhance efficiency and expertise. At the same time, the company made forward-looking investments, including the acquisition of a floating dock pontoon and a heavy-duty transfer ramp.

During the financial year, the first vessel in the corvette project, carried out in collaboration with the defense forces, achieved hull completion, and the second vessel was started ahead of schedule. RMC also delivered the first of two passenger-car ferries being built for TT-Line to Tasmania during the year.

RMC sees market developments as favorable for the company. The company’s expertise aligns exceptionally well with market demand, and the Rauma shipyard is prepared to launch several construction projects in the coming years. NATO membership creates opportunities for the construction and lifecycle maintenance of military and official vessels, the renewal needs for icebreaker fleets—particularly in Finland, other Nordic countries, and the United States—open new possibilities, and electrification-related newbuild and modernization projects for ships are an excellent fit for the fully domestically owned Rauma shipyard, which has evolved into an efficient company specializing in shipbuilding, project management, and marine technology.
