Royal T Shipyards performed the christening and launching of the MV Vertom Quina, the tenth vessel in the Labrax series for Vertom.

This marks a significant milestone, celebrating the series of new-generation diesel-electric vessels, each of which contributes to cleaner and more efficient short-sea shipping in Europe.

“The launch of the MV Vertom Quina is a truly special moment. It not only reflects the solid and lasting collaboration between Royal T Shipyards and Vertom, but it also represents the tenth vessel of a series that embodies our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and high-quality craftsmanship. This milestone is a tribute to the dedication of everyone involved, from our engineers and welders to the project leaders and partners,” stated the CEO of Royal T Shipyards, Thecla Bodewes.

Dirk de Jong, Technical Director of Vertom Group, noted that “the launch of the MV Vertom Quina marks the conclusion of an exceptional series and a partnership that we have truly valued. As the last vessel of this successful collaboration, it is a testament to the craftsmanship, trust, and shared vision that defined our journey. We are proud of what we have achieved together and we remember it fondly as we close this chapter.”

With a length of 118.6 meters and a beam of 14.3 meters, the unit features a full box-shaped cargo hold of 9,340 cubic meters and advanced diesel-electric propulsion. This design, shared across the series of 10 vessels, offers significant fuel savings, low emissions, and readiness for zero-emission alternative fuels.

“Each vessel is a collective achievement. From the first steel plate to the final commissioning, our teams and our partners unite craftsmanship, creativity, and discipline. The MV Vertom Quina is a proud demonstration of what we can achieve and an inspiration for the future vessels we will build,” concluded Bodewes.

The vessel will undergo final outfitting at Royal T Shipyards, in Kampen, before heading to Harlingen for sea trials and delivery later this year.
