The San Marino Maritime Authority and Ship Register has announced the full implementation of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), marking a major achievement in the nation’s dedication to global maritime safety and regulatory standards.

As explained, in cooperation with the IMO, the Maritime Authority and Ship Register are fully aligned with the STCW Convention and all its most recent amendments. Moreover, the Administration cooperated with the IMO to establish limited seafarer certification for Masters and Chief Officers on board small and large yachts below 500GT engaged in trade.

San Marino’s full adoption of the STCW Convention confirms its commitment to creating a national maritime industry and community, aligning with international efforts to promote safe and sustainable shipping practices.

As an active IMO Member State, San Marino recognises the importance of contributing to the maintenance of high standards within the maritime industry, especially with regard to seafarer training and certification.
