Sanmar Shipyards has delivered one of its Boğaçay Class tugboats to Italian operator Rimorchitori Napoletani, the company said in a statement.
The vessel, previously named Boğaçay LXXX, was renamed Gargano by its new owner. Built at Sanmar’s environmentally friendly shipyard in Türkiye, the diesel-powered tug is based on the RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd.
Gargano has a bollard pull over the stern of 70 tons and a free-running speed of at least 12.5 knots. The vessel measures 24.4 meters in length and has a 12-meter moulded beam, offering improved stability and performance. It features Tier III compliant main engines and an advanced automation system aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
“Our latest Boğaçay Class tugs achieve a new level of low-emission, low environmental impact tugboat operation. Gargano represents the latest in our ongoing drive to drastically reduce the negative environmental impact of the tug and towing industry,” said Rüçhan Çıvgın, Commercial Director of Sanmar Shipyards.
The delivery continues a partnership that began in 2017, when Rimorchitori Napoletani received the Vivara, a Sirapinar Class tug from Sanmar.
