The board of directors of the Port Authority of Santander (APS) has approved the granting to Boluda of a new administrative concession of 20,386 m2 for the repair of containers, as well as exterior service areas, cleaning zones, access control and storage, empty depot and cross-docking activities. This concession, which will have a term of 20 years and foresees an investment of 1,134,000 euros, is located on the plot known as ‘bunker’, next to the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL).
For the president of the APS, César Díaz, we are “facing a new commitment by Boluda” which “does not stop growing in our port”. “In just over two years, the container terminal is proving to be one of the most competitive logistics facilities in our country, exceeding the most optimistic forecasts and knocking on the door of the national top-10, contributing to the strengthening of the business sector in our environment.”
During this time, new alliances have been achieved, such as the existing one between Boluda Lines and Samskip, and successive public and private investments have been made in machinery, yard expansions, tracks for container cranes, facilities, or the terminal’s railway siding. “Furthermore, from the APS, we are investing in new infrastructure such as Raos 6, so that container traffic can continue to grow without reducing capacity for the rest of the port operations at the North Pier,” added Díaz.
Extension of the Marina de Pedreña concession
On the other hand, the APS board of directors has approved the extension of the expiration date of the concession for the Marina de Pedreña Sports Port until 2043, when the maximum term of 50 years that the company Proyectos de Pedreña, the holder of this concession, can opt for, expires. As part of the agreement, the company must make investments worth 1,369,000 euros aimed at improving the productivity, energy efficiency and environmental quality of the sports port in order to, as explained by the president of the APS, “improve the facilities, carrying out renovation works and replacing elements essential to guarantee its correct functioning.”
