Sapura and Paratus JV lands $1.8bn PLSV contract with Petrobras Sapura

Seabras Sapura, a Brazilian joint venture between Malaysian offshore player Sapura Energy and Paratus Energy Services, has secured contracts with Petrobras for a full fleet of six pipelay support vessels.

The contracts worth $1.8bn are for three years, starting on different mobilisation dates according to each of the PLSVs, with the longest dated contract going through 2028.

The scope of work covers subsea engineering, installation and other services, utilising the PLSVs in Brazilian waters.

The Rio de Janeiro-based jv is equally owned by Sapura Energy and Paratus, formerly Seadrill New Finance.

Seadrill sold its 35% stake in Paratus to John Fredriksen’s family investment vehicle, Hemen, and funds managed by Lodbrok Capital and Melqart Asset Management in 2022. The company also owns jackups in SeaMex and has interests in the oil services company Archer.
