Schottel continues to expand its international network with the opening of a new subsidiary in the United Kingdom. With this strategy, the company strengthens its presence in the British and Irish market and lays the foundations for closer collaboration with local clients.

Schottel UK will focus primarily on new construction and retrofit sales. The goal is to intensify on-site customer attention through greater proximity, guaranteeing direct and personalized assistance to designers, builders, and owners throughout the specification and acquisition process.

“The British market offers significant growth potential, especially in the offshore vessel, dredger, ferry, tug, and naval vessel segments. As the industry increasingly seeks innovative technologies to drive the transition towards climate-neutral shipping, the demand for hybrid and electric propulsion systems, as well as custom retrofit solutions for fleet modernization, is increasing,” stated Roland Schwandt, Deputy General Manager of Schottel.

Sebastian Sachs was appointed General Manager of Schottel UK. The executive joined the company in 2016 and has since held various management positions. Since April 1, 2024, he has held the position of General Manager of Schottel Nederland, a role he will retain alongside his new responsibilities.

Sachs is supported by the Sales Director, Jordan Soltys, who remains the main point of contact for clients. A qualified naval architect and marine engineer, he worked for many years as a maritime agent before joining the company in June 2024.

“This strategic step seeks to increase proximity with our clients, strengthen consulting and support in new construction and modernization projects, and make the most of the potential of this dynamic market. Schottel UK is much more than a simple commercial headquarters; it is a clear statement of our long-term commitment. Our goal is to forge trusted and lasting alliances within the UK maritime sector and actively contribute to forging its future,” stated Sebastian Sachs.

While Schottel UK will focus primarily on new construction and modernization projects, after-sales support will continue to be handled by the partner Stone Marine Services, near Edinburgh. “By collaborating closely with the experienced team at Stone Marine Services, we can guarantee that our UK clients receive high-quality local assistance for service, spare parts, and repairs, all backed by deep engineering expertise and a long-standing reputation in the British nautical industry,” summarized Soltys.
