Ministry, Tuscany Region and Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority together to find rapid solutions to the loss of operability of the port and coastal erosion

Marina di Carrara – The problems of seabed siltation and coastal erosion that are compromising the operability of the port of Marina di Carrara have officially entered the agenda of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (Mit), which has convened a technical table dedicated to the issue for October 14 at 4 PM.
According to a note released by the Ministry, the progressive accumulation of sediments on the seabed is generating difficulties in access and maneuver for ships, with direct effects on regional and national logistics chains. In parallel, the approval process for the new port master plan represents a crucial step for the development of the port, but raises concerns about the potential erosive effects of the sea works, particularly along the Versilia coast, which is already affected by regression phenomena.
The table will be attended by representatives of the Superior Council of Public Works, the Tuscany Region and the Adsp of the Eastern Ligurian Sea, with the aim of identifying shared and timely solutions to guarantee both the full functionality of the port and the environmental protection of the coastline.
The Mit has emphasized the need to establish a constructive dialogue between the institutions, in order to quickly arrive at a balanced solution that reconciles infrastructural development with the safeguarding of the coastal area.
