Woodfibre LNG has received its second floating workforce accommodation vessel, the MV Saga X, adding capacity for over 640 workers and enabling up to 900 new skilled trades jobs without impacting Squamish’s strained housing or services. The new floatel mirrors the success of the first vessel, offering private cabins, medical care, fitness and recreation facilities, and enhanced features such as a 200-person auditorium and outdoor basketball court. Its arrival allows construction to accelerate while maintaining community commitments shaped through local consultation. The vessel incorporates modern environmental systems, including wastewater treatment, waste reduction, heat pumps, and future onshore power. Both floatels, provided by Vancouver-based Bridgemans, will support project completion through 2027 as Woodfibre LNG advances Canada’s LNG export capacity.
