The Regional Ministerial Secretary (Seremi) of Labor and Social Welfare of Antofagasta, Paola Solari, visited Antofagasta Terminal Internacional (ATI), where she toured the terminal to review its operational processes, progress in safety, and the joint work with its workers.
The authority was received by ATI’s General Manager, Mark Bindhoff, along with the company’s executive team and representatives of the ATI and ATI ESA Port Union Federation, who presented the main processes carried out at the port.
During the tour, the delegation visited sites 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Berthing Front No. 2 of the Port of Antofagasta, a multipurpose area of 9.85 hectares oriented towards cargo transfer and the development of operations linked to industrial activity.
Solari valued the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about the terminal’s operation and the role ATI plays in the logistics chain for the development of the territory.
“The main objective of this visit was to learn about the port world, which is enormously important for a mining region like Antofagasta. Talking with its team and seeing the work they do on the ground allows us to understand ATI’s contribution to regional development and to continue strengthening joint work between the public sector, the company, and its workers,” specified the Seremi.
For his part, ATI’s General Manager, Mark Bindhoff, highlighted that “this visit allows us to show the work we have developed together with our unions and union leaders, driving continuous improvements in matters of safety, operational efficiency, and well-being. We believe that dialogue and collaboration are fundamental to continue strengthening our management and the development of port activity.”
The visit concluded with a space for dialogue between the authority, executives, and worker representatives, an instance in which the main challenges were addressed to continue promoting safe work environments, strengthening collaborative relationships, and contributing to the sustainable development of the logistics-port system of the Antofagasta Region.
