The lease agreement for the Finike Yacht Port, which belongs to Finike Municipality and is operated by Setur Marina, had ended in recent months. With the expiry of its contract, Finike Municipality put the yacht port out to tender for re-operation for a 25-year period.

Finike Municipality sent invitations to 19 marina operators operating in Turkey to participate in the tender for the operation of Finike Yacht Port. The tender, held under the supervision of municipal council members, was won again by SETUR Tek-Art Kalamış and Fenerbahçe Marmara Turizm Tesisleri A.Ş. for 38 million 500 thousand lira, excluding VAT, for the first year.

According to the tender contract, the rental fee will be increased annually at the rate of WPI–CPI. Finike Municipality will also sign a first in Turkey by receiving a 10 percent share of the turnover from commercial and marine areas.

Finike Mayor Mustafa Geyikçi stated that the Finike Yacht Port tender was conducted with great transparency. Geyikçi noted the following:

“From the announcement phase of the tender process to the contract signing phase, we acted with great meticulousness at every step, keeping the district’s interests at the forefront. Invitations were sent to 19 businesses operating marinas in Turkey. The tender was conducted not only with the participation of the tender commission but also with the participation of our municipal council members.”

Stating that long-term leasing models are standard throughout Turkey for large investments requiring public-private sector cooperation, Geyikçi said, “A serious investment is required for the reconstruction of Finike Yacht Port. The port depth has dropped to 3.5 meters. Long time is needed for large investments to succeed. This period is necessary for the port’s renewal, to acquire a modern structure, and to provide economic contribution to Finike.”

Emphasizing that small boat owners and fishermen will not suffer any grievances during this process, Mustafa Geyikçi continued as follows:

“The mooring areas for small boat owners and our fishermen operating in our district will continue to be served in the same way in the existing fishermen’s shelter. The work we are doing at the port does not cover the shelter area, and its management will continue to operate under the cooperative roof as in the past. The Finike economy will strengthen with the new port. From the day we took office until now, we have been working with all our might to protect Finike’s past and steer its future. Our only concern is to secure Finike’s future. It is to bring a modern and tourism-focused yacht port worthy of our district to our district. With this renewal, Finike will not only generate revenue for our municipality’s treasury, it will also bring a new perspective to tourism and take an important step in yacht tourism. Our Finike’s tradesmen, tourism professionals will win, its trade will develop, and our citizens will gain a new and modern social area.”

Finike Mayor Mustafa Geyikçi added that Setur Marina, which is re-leasing the yacht port for 25 years, is expected to make a 15 million dollar investment for dredging, redoing the landscaping, and various investments.
