Shanghai International Port Group has ordered an integrated cargo handling, fuel gas and reliquefaction system for a 20,000-m³ LNG bunker vessel on order

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) has chosen Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, part of technology group Wärtsilä, to supply an integrated cargo handling, fuel gas supply and boil-off gas reliquefaction package for a new LNG bunker vessel on order.

The scope covers the cargo handling system, the fuel gas supply system and a Compact Reliq – CRS boil-off gas reliquefaction system, with the systems fully integrated to support overall efficiency.

Wärtsilä stated the order was booked in Q3 2025, with equipment delivery scheduled for 2026 and the vessel expected to be commissioned mid-2027 at Jiangnan Shipyard in China.

Shanghai SIPG Energy Service Co Ltd vice general manager He Bin linked the new project to the company’s operational record with existing LNG bunkering tonnage, “During the recent 3.5 years after we took over Hai Gang Wei Lai, we have finished more than 200 bunkerings of over 1M cubic metres of LNG for various ships calling Shanghai port. We are satisfied with the performance of Wärtsilä systems and this is the reason we are working with them again in this new project,” Mr He said.
