The Convention on Business Integrity has reportedly stated that the partnership with the Nigerian Ports Authority via the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network has reduced the cost of ship berthing by 86% from $150,000 a vessel to approximately $20,000 in Nigeria.
Olusoji Apampa, the organisation’s co-founder, mentioned that the agency’s success had also begun attracting international reviews. India, Egypt, and Ukraine are planning on adopting the model of the ‘Nigerian miracle’ for similar gains in their port operations.
In March (2022), Mohammed Bello-Koko, the Managing Director and CEO of NPA, when he received members of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network spearheaded by Soji Apampa in Lagos, reiterated the Authority’s dedication to complying with the SOPs as laid down in Nigeria’s Port Process Manual, which was funded by the NPA, to boost operational excellence as well service delivery at seaports and terminals.
