Ship4wd is opening direct access to China’s tightly held wholesale ecosystem for small and mid-sized American firms. Its new sourcing platform aims to simplify procurement, lower costs and bring long-needed transparency to cross-border trade.

Ship4wd is more than a digital freight forwarder. The New York based company has launched a sourcing solution that gives American small and medium sized businesses a direct line into parts of China’s wholesale market that have long been closed to foreign buyers.

Many of these suppliers have traditionally dealt only with domestic customers because of language barriers, payment restrictions and the complexity of export logistics. Ship4wd’s platform brings those elements together in one place. SMBs can browse factories, compare products, manage communication and pay in US dollars through familiar methods such as PayPal, credit card, ACH and wire transfer. Orders are backed by full refunds before shipment and round-the-clock human support.

The timing is deliberate. Many companies are bracing for higher costs as new tariffs take effect. Industry surveys show that nearly two thirds of SMBs expect moderate to major disruption while more than half foresee higher costs on their inventories. Ship4wd’s proposition is that cutting out layers of intermediaries and handling procurement and logistics in one system will help offset some of those pressures.

Quality control sits at the centre of the new service. Every order is inspected at Ship4wd’s warehouse in China before any payment goes to the supplier. Buyers can request certified factory checks and receive photos for approval. According to the company, this approach is meant to reduce the risks that often deter smaller firms from sourcing directly overseas.

“This sourcing solution gives our SMB customers an unprecedented level of control over their entire journey, transforming Ship4wd into a true end-to-end engine, from initial product discovery all the way to final delivery,” said Carmit Glik, Chief Executive Officer of Ship4wd.

Ship4wd also folds freight services into the same ecosystem. Buyers can ship their goods from China to destinations worldwide including private addresses, warehouses and major fulfilment centres. The company offers air freight, LCL, FCL and express lanes with real time quotes and guaranteed space. Multiple orders can be consolidated into a single shipment, with insurance and last mile delivery included.

Backed by the ZIM Group, Ship4wd is betting that tighter integration between sourcing and logistics will change how smaller firms manage their global supply chains.
