Skanska, in a joint venture with McLean Contracting Company, has secured a contract from the Port of Virginia to improve Norfolk International Terminal North Wharf in Norfolk.
Skanska will include its portion of the contract at $59 million in US order bookings for the first quarter of 2024.
The project aims to improve the terminal infrastructure for the fifth biggest container port in the US.

According to Skanska, the upgrades include the removal of old marine wharf fenders and mooring hardware, followed by the installation of new fenders, mooring bollards, a steel sheet piling toe wall, wharf repairs, and mooring dolphins.
In addition, a new 120′ gauge ship-to-shore (STS) crane rail will be installed. Work will begin in March 2024 and is projected to be completed by January 2026.
Recently, the Port of Virginia’s larger shipping channel opened for two-way transit of ultra-large container vessels (ULCV).
