AROYA Cruises, the first Arabian cruise line operated by Cruise Saudi, has completed a modernisation project on the vessel’s IT and operational systems in conjunction with SmartSea.

SmartSea began working on the ship in 2023, assessing and upgrading IT infrastructure and cybersecurity systems ahead of the refit. Technology partners were integrated to deliver a range of systems across the vessel, including satellite connectivity, cybersecurity, and video-on-demand platforms, with more than 2,000 access points installed to support Wi-Fi access across the ship.

The company also managed vendor selection and procurement, working alongside Columbia blue, which manages AROYA’s operations.

“AROYA is a pioneering, first-of-its-kind product and as such, we wanted to ensure an incredibly high standard across all elements of the operation,” said Bilal Hussain, IT & Digitalisation Executive Director at Cruise Saudi, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) company which owns AROYA Cruises.

“Partnering with SmartSea has enabled us to create a seamless experience behind the scenes, allowing our valuable guests to enjoy efficient Wi-Fi, easy onboard activity bookings and more.”

SmartSea will continue to provide support for the ship’s IT systems now that the vessel is operational.
