SMIC most likely to have 7-nanometre chip capabilities

CHINA’s top chip maker has most likely gained the ability to produce seven-nanometre chips, reports Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post.

TechInsights researchers concluded the reverse-engineering of a sample chip made by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC).

Analysts and industry professionals believe smic can produce the chips with existing deep ultraviolet (DUV) systems.
