Port of Roses ended the 2025 cruise season in which it received 15 calls, a historic record that practically doubled the eight from the previous season. Furthermore, the terminal hosted 4,100 passengers, almost triple that of last year.
The economic impact of the activity on the territory is estimated at about USD 440,000, a figure taken from a study by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), which estimates that each passenger spends an average of USD 93 when disembarking at a port of call and visiting the destination. In addition, USD 9 per passenger has been added for expenses related to port services.
Cruise activity at the Port of Roses continued uninterrupted for eight months this year, from April to November. Half of the ships made their visit during the low season. This has contributed to reducing the seasonality of tourist activity in the Alt Empordà and the Costa Brava, thereby boosting employment and the economy of the town of Roses and its surroundings.
By nationality, the majority of arriving tourists were American (34%), French (21%), Australian (8%), British (7%), Belgian (4%), Canadian (2%), Swiss (1.5%) and German (1%), among others.
The season ended with visits from six cruise lines, Club Med, Emerald Cruises, Mystic Cruises, Ponant Yacht Cruises, Seabourn and SeaDream Yacht Club. Of these, 83% are European, from countries such as France, Norway, Portugal and Switzerland, while the remaining 17% are North American. The terminal also received two inaugural cruise calls, from the Austral and the Emerald Sakara.
The cruise ship Seabourn Ovation, operated by Seabourn, closed the 2025 season after having visited Roses on four occasions throughout the year.
The vessel arrived from the Port of Marseille, France, anchored in the Bay of Roses, and departed for the Port of Barcelona nine hours later. On board were 560 passengers, mainly from the USA, Australia and Canada.
The promotion of the cruise sector at trade fairs, congresses and industry events is carried out under the Costa Brava Cruise Ports brand. This brand is formed by Ports de la Generalitat; Roses City Council; Palamós City Council; Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board; Palamós Chamber of Commerce and Girona Chamber of Commerce.
