Staff Appointments and Departures in the World of Transport Announced This Week

UK – Logistics staffing and training outfit Bis Henderson has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Barrie Javens to the position of Business Development Director for the Group. Barrie brings a wealth of operational and strategic supply chain knowledge to the business, having held senior positions at Deloitte MCS, leading their logistics and supply chain practice, and Unipart Group, where he was Managing Director of the Heath and Pharmaceutical Consulting business.

Most recently Barrie was Supply Chain Director at Alvarez and Marsal, a role in which he orchestrated strategic change within a number of clients, global organisations, delivering significant cost savings and enhanced supply chain performance.

UK – David Goldsborough has been appointed as MD of Yusen Logistics UK. He has worked within the Yusen Logistics group since the acquisition of Tibbett Logistics in 2017 and what is now Yusen Logistics Romania, where he was Managing Director and also Regional Managing Director for Yusen Logistics in Central and Eastern Europe since January 2020.

David’s early career began in the UK almost thirty years ago with Tibbett & Britten Group where he gained experience in leadership roles in the UK, Austria and Germany before moving on to Eastern Europe with Keswick Enterprises and Delamode in Romania.

ITALY – Turin based industrial automation group Comau has appointed Pietro Gorlier as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2022. With a professional background that spans over 30 years, Mr. Gorlier was Chief Parts and Services Officer worldwide at Stellantis, prior to this new appointment.

He has also held several other managerial roles with increasing responsibility and a strong record of proven success, serving as President & CEO of MOPAR, CEO of Magneti Marelli and COO of the Region EMEA at FCA. Mr. Gorlier has been a member of the FCA Group Executive Council (GEC) since 2011.

DENMARK – A.P. Møller-Mærsk A/S has announced a change with Executive Board Member in the Group and CEO of APM Terminals, Morten Engelstoft retiring from the Group effective 30 June 2022. APM Terminals will going forward report to Henriette Hallberg Thygesen. The Executive Board will hereafter consist of CEO Søren Skou, CFO Patrick Jany, Vincent Clerc, Henriette Hallberg Thygesen and Navneet Kapoor.

MARSHALL ISLANDS – International Registries (IRI), supporters of the Maritime and Corporate Registries, has promoted Simon Bonnett and Theo Xenakoudis. Simon Bonnett who has served as Senior Vice President, Technical since 2018 was promoted to Chief Maritime Officer and Theo Xenakoudis, the organization’s Director, Worldwide Business Operations since 2015 and Managing Director of the Piraeus office since 2007, now serves as Chief Commercial Officer.

The pair will manage and expand upon the responsibilities of the current Chief Operations Officer, John Ramage, who will retire at the end of June 2022 following a 51-year career in the maritime industry. London based Bonnett, with previous service with Lloyds Register and 12 years at IRI, will be responsible for the oversight of the Maritime Services Group, which supports the RMI Registry’s fleet of more than 5,200 vessels.

Based in Piraeus, Greece, Theo Xenakoudis joined IRI in 2001 as Business Development Manager, became Managing Director of the Piraeus office in 2007, and in 2015 was promoted to Director, Worldwide Business Operations. As Chief Commercial Officer he will continue to support owners and operators globally and focus on the Registry’s growth worldwide,

US – The nomination of Robin Hutcheson to serve as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was praised by the American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear who said her history as director of public works for the City of Minneapolis and transportation director for Salt Lake City makes her well-qualified and prepared for this vital role.

US – Continuing with the ATA, the federation has hired Megan Masitto as the organisation’s new chief financial officer. Masitto comes to ATA with more than 25 years of experience, primarily in service of trade associations and their affiliates. At previous employers including the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, the Council on Foundation and the American Society for Training and Development, she modernised and oversaw the processes and tools used to manage organisational finances.

CANADA – Kirsten de Brujin has been appointed as WestJet’s Executive Vice-President, Cargo. Following a successful immigration procedure, De Brujin will join WestJet’s senior leadership team later this month. De Brujin has over 15 years of expertise in the aviation sector and a wide portfolio of air freight experience.

INDIA – Mahesh Malik has been appointed as IndiGo’s new Chief Commercial Officer, CarGo. Mahesh is scheduled to start in his new role on May 15, 2022. The volume of airfreight in India has grown in recent years, and IndiGo says it has been in the vanguard supporting this industry by providing air connections both domestically and internationally.

GERMANY – ElectricBrands, maker of the XBUS, a truck which in some forms resembles a VW Camper going to a fancy dress party as Judge Dredd, has strengthened its management team after dividing into two companies. Ulrich Walker, a former Daimler boss in China and Borgward CEO, comes in as supervisory board chairman.

Meanwhile Walker will be supported in his tasks by Kai Andersen and Mirko Konta, who hail from the fields of management consultancy and automotive development and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Hans Lamprecht expands the team around CEO Martin Henne as a financial expert. In addition, Tom Anliker becomes the new Chief Marketing & Revenue Officer (CMRO). Working internationally for many years in their respective fields, both boast experience in auditing and brand building.
