Star Princess, the latest cruise ship to enter service, has officially embarked on her maiden voyage this week, setting sail on an 11-night journey from Barcelona through the Western Mediterranean.
This marks a significant milestone for Princess Cruises, as Star Princess becomes the second vessel in their Sphere class and the 17th ship in the company’s fleet.
Following her European debut, Star Princess is scheduled to cross the Atlantic and arrive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on 5 November 2025.
The next day, the ship will be christened by its godparents, Hollywood couple Matthew and Camila McConaughey.
After the christening ceremony, the vessel will begin its winter season, sailing from Port Everglades to destinations in The Bahamas and the Caribbean.
The 177,800gt Star Princess can accommodate up to 4,300 passengers. She has over 1,500 balcony cabins and features the exclusive Sanctuary Collection suites, offering elevated luxury and privacy.
Guests onboard can enjoy 30 distinct dining and bar venues, ensuring a wide variety of culinary experiences. Entertainment options are equally impressive, with highlights including Spellbound by Magic Castle, Meridian & Illuminate, Entertainment Beyond the Area, and The Dome.
Gus Antorcha, President of Princess Cruises, expressed pride in the launch, stating, “Star Princess shines brightly as one of the largest and most spectacular ships we’ve ever built, and we proudly welcome excited guests on her inaugural voyage.”
Captain Gennaro Arma, who led the newbuild team at the Monfalcone shipyard, shared his personal excitement about the voyage.
“From leading the newbuild team to watching our amazing crew now guiding her on her maiden voyage with our very first guests, this journey is a true honor,” he said. He warmly invited guests to experience the exceptional service that Princess Cruises is known for.
Star Princess joins her sistership, Sun Princess, which debuted in early 2024, continuing the evolution of the Sphere class and reinforcing Princess Cruises’ commitment to innovation and guest satisfaction.
