The steel cutting ceremony for two Auxiliary Oil Replenishment and Logistics Vessels (AOR+) to be built for the Portuguese Navy by Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. (STM) was held in Istanbul.

Approximately one year after the contract was awarded to STM at the end of the tender, STM began the construction of two AOR+ logistic support vessels.

The export of STM’s logistic support vessel represents the first major naval platform export to a country that is a member of the EU and NATO.

Speaking at the ceremony, STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stated that the keel of the first vessel will be laid in January 2026 and both vessels will be delivered to the Portuguese Navy in 2028.
