The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Suez Canal Authority signed a memorandum of understanding on 23 November 2025 to establish an LNG liquefaction and bunkering station in the Raswa area of Port Said as part of Egypt’s plan to develop a “green channel”, Suez Canal Authority said in a news release.
The MoU aims to secure gas supplies for the planned liquefaction and storage station and coordinate technical and implementation procedures between petroleum-sector companies and the authority.
Preparatory work included consultations among EGAS, the Suez Canal Authority and gas companies, as well as a study supported by international institutions from South Korea in coordination with the ministry responsible for planning and international cooperation.
The authority had previously signed an MoU with the Korean side defining project details, implementation terms and economic costs.
