A tanker, Seasalvia (from the Greek company Thenamaris, the same company recently targeted in an attack in Vado Ligure), is about to arrive at the port of Taranto to load crude oil destined for the Israeli military aviation.

This is stated in a note signed by the provincial coordinator of the Cobas Stasi Confederation, Salvatore Stasi, and by Francesco Marchese, of the executive committee of the Unione Sindacale di Base of Taranto, which requests a meeting at the Prefecture, the Port System Authority, the Region, the Province, and the Municipality “regarding the news just learned of the expected arrival today in the port of Taranto of the tanker Seasalvia, used to deliver a load of 30,000 tons of crude oil destined for the Israeli military aviation”.

According to the signatories, who, as Stasi explains, have acted union-wise for formal reasons but in support of the broader non-union and apolitical movement of Taranto for Palestine, “this is, quite evidently, a supply for war purposes in favor of a State involved in war operations and responsible for serious human rights violations, which must be prevented for humanitarian reasons, for constitutional legitimacy, and to realize the interruption of all relations with the State of Israel, a measure already declared by some of the institutions addressed”.

Parallel to the request, the note announced the convening of a vigil “in front of the entrance to the commercial port of Taranto”. An attempt to block the docking or at least the loading of the ship is conceivable; the ship is expected to depart on Saturday (when a march is planned in the province, in Grottaglie, heading towards the local headquarters of Leonardo due to its relations with Israel) and arrive in Haifa on September 30th.
