Rottneros, a producer of pulp and moulded fibre from sustainable forests, continues its collaboration with AtoB@C Shipping, part of ESL Shipping, through a long-term contract which establishes that the shipping company will employ a new plug-in hybrid vessel for this traffic, allowing for a reduction of up to 50% of CO2 per ton-mile compared to the current vessel operating on the same routes.
“We have been working side by side with AtoB@C Shipping for over a decade and we are pleased to continue our collaboration. They are developing one of their vessels to meet our specific needs and, for this reason, we want to commit to a long-term contract. Together, we can also concretely show the way towards a more sustainable maritime infrastructure,” stated Magnus Malmborg, Supply Chain Director of Rottneros AB.
As part of the contract, AtoB@C Shipping will upgrade one of its new plug-in hybrid vessels with a crane. Being self-loading is an ideal solution for the Rottneros port in Vallvik and necessary for its port in Norway, where the capacity of shore cranes is limited. It also allows for faster loading at the Baltic terminals, from where the raw material is primarily delivered.
“We are extremely pleased to continue providing services to Rottneros and to ensure constant, safe, and more sustainable deliveries in the future. As highlighted in this case, our new energy-efficient vessels can bring significant benefits to our clients, such as increased capacity and reduced emissions. The same team has been working for Rottneros for a long time, and they are also excited to continue ensuring punctual and efficient deliveries,” said Frida Rowland, Commercial Director of AtoB@C Shipping.
