Swire Shipping will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) for shipments from New Zealand to several Pacific Island destinations, effective for cargo with a bill of lading date on or after 15 July 2026.

The increase will apply to cargo destined for American Samoa, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

Under the revised tariff, the carrier will apply a surcharge of US$75 per 20-foot container and US$150 per 40-foot container.

Swire Shipping said the adjustment reflects continued increases in operating costs and vessel charter rates. The carrier added that shipments on trades regulated by the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission will remain subject to the applicable regulatory notice requirements.
