DP World, through its joint venture Laem Chabang International Terminal (LCIT), secured a five-year extension on its concession to continue operating the B5 container berth at the Port of Laem Chabang.
The contract, granted by the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT), will be effective from May 2026 to April 2031, reinforcing DP World’s central role in driving regional trade flows.
LCIT operates the B5 and C3 berths at Laem Chabang, Thailand’s main seaport and the country’s largest container hub, which supports international trade.
The terminals can accommodate up to four vessels simultaneously along 900 meters of berth and feature 4,420 m2 of container freight station (CFS) facilities on the quay. In 2025, LCIT handled a record 1.936 million TEU, its highest annual volume to date, reflecting sustained growth in container volume.
Glen Hilton, CEO and Managing Director for Asia Pacific at DP World, stated that “this concession extension at the Port of Laem Chabang ensures service continuity and stability for our customers at a time when supply chains face increasing pressure and complexity.”
“As Thailand consolidates its position as a regional trade hub, this extension allows us to continue investing in capacity, efficiency, and sustainable operations. Together with our LCIT partners, we are well positioned to support growing intra-Asian trade and deliver long-term value to customers across the Asia Pacific region,” he added.
This concession will enable DP World to continue investing in operational efficiency and sustainability at Laem Chabang. In 2025, five electric internal transfer vehicles (eITVs) were deployed at LCIT, reducing emissions by approximately 60% compared to diesel alternatives, while facilitating faster vessel handling. Further enhancements are planned for 2026, including the installation of additional eITVs, electric reach stackers, and an electric empty container handler.
Complementing its operations at the Port of Laem Chabang, DP World has an integrated logistics network across Thailand, including cross-border land transport, inland logistics, and cargo management.
The company also recently inaugurated a rail-linked inland container terminal in Khon Kaen, with a dedicated shuttle service three times a week to Laem Chabang, improving connectivity for exporters in the northeastern region.
