İMEAK Chamber of Shipping Chairman and Piri Reis University Board of Trustees President Tamer Kıran issued a statement on the occasion of November 24 Teachers’ Day.
“On the anniversary of the conferment of the title of Head Teacher to the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, I celebrate the Teachers’ Day of all our teachers with my most sincere wishes,” said Kıran, adding, “Today, as in every field, the global maritime industry is undergoing a rapid and profound transformation, while the green transformation, sustainability requirements, and the digital revolution are reshaping the ways ships are built, operated, and managed. In this process of change, no matter how much technology, infrastructure, and regulations advance, the human factor will undoubtedly remain at the center of success; the competitiveness of Turkish maritime in the future will depend on a well-trained human resource that is compatible with digitalization and the green transformation.”
The continuation of Kıran’s statement is as follows:
“At this very point, the new generations to be raised by our well-trained, equipped teachers are the most important element that will carry us forward in this race. I wish to state that I appreciate with admiration the very valuable efforts of our esteemed teachers, who have great contributions in raising our beloved youth, the architects of our future, in our country’s journey to reach the level of contemporary civilization.
As the Chamber of Shipping management and members, we consider supporting maritime education as one of our most important duties, and we allocate a significant portion of our budget every year to educational activities. We take great pride in supporting our Piri Reis University, which we describe as ‘our biggest project,’ as well as numerous high schools and universities providing education in the field of maritime in our country, and our maritime academics.
I commemorate with mercy and respect our teachers who have passed away, including our Head Teacher, the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and our teachers who were martyred on duty, and while celebrating the November 24 Teachers’ Day of all our teachers, I present my gratitude and respects.”
