Tanker Shipping & Trade Tanker of the Year 2022 Award

Must read

The Tanker of the Year Award recognises a tanker delivered since November 2021 and engaged in bulk liquid transport that sets new benchmarks in one, more or all of the following areas: design, environmental, operational, safety and technical performance.

This year, the shortlist includes tankers capable of operating on dual fuel, ready for future fuels or with innovations in the fuel system.

Review the shortlist below and place your vote by 7 October on the Tanker Shipping & Trade Awards 2022 page or on LinkedIn.

Frida Knutsen

First dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) shuttle tanker to be chartered to Italian energy giant Eni. Green tanker equipped with a volatile organic compounds recovery system and an energy storage system for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Stena Pro Patria

Stena Pro Patria sends the message methanol is a reliable and available marine fuel that can reduce global shipping emissions. A state-of-the-art, IMOIIMeMAX dual-fuel MR tanker, it is expected to run on 12,500 tonnes of methanol marine fuel per annum and cut NOx emissions by 60% compared with conventional marine fuels.

Kriti Future

The first ammonia-fuel ready vessel in the world, the ABS-classed Suezmax tanker was delivered to owners Avin International Ltd, flying the Greek flag in February. The vessel also meets the ABS LNG Fuel Ready Level 1 requirements.

Advantage Victory

This LR-classed vessel is nominated for the integration of a breakthrough new LNG tank system; a Type C tank utilising high manganese steel. It is the first in a series under construction at South Korea’s DSME.

Eagle Valence

300,000-dwt Eagle Valence is the world’s first LNG dual-fuel VLCC. The vessel can run on LNG, powered by a WIN GD 7×82 dual-fuel engine. The vessel exceeds the EEDI Phase 2 reference line by more than 20% and supports AET’s goal of a 40% reduction in annual efficiency ratio GHG intensity by 2030 (baseline 2008) and net-zero GHG emissions commitment by 2050.
