Athens-based dry bulk carrier operator Gourdomichalis Maritime has agreed a new deal with VIKAND to add telemedicine capabilities to four of its vessels.
The project will leverage tools from satcom service provider Navarino offered through the OneHealth by VIKAND platform to deliver the service package, which includes the VIKAND Connect app, emergency care, medivac support and emergency mental health services, plus remote access to medical and mental health professionals anywhere in the world.
VIKAND Connect offers video, audio and text communications with healthcare teams while at sea, plus in-app appointment scheduling.
“Crew wellbeing is a top priority,” said Vasilis Xerotagaros, HSEQ Coordinator for Gourdomichalis Maritime.
“With technology and services from VIKAND and Navarino, we can sail with new confidence, secure in the knowledge that a dedicated team is there to assist our crew members wherever they are.”
