Tension in international waters

Tensions have risen again in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards intervened with a helicopter against the Marshall Islands-flagged commercial ship M/V Talara, which was sailing in international waters, and forcibly diverted the ship to Iranian territorial waters.

CENTCOM stated that the operation was contrary to international law and seriously threatened freedom of navigation. The US emphasized that similar actions would risk commercial security in the region and the flow of global trade.

It was reported that the ship had set sail from the UAE to Singapore, but no detailed information regarding the crew or technical status was shared during the intervention.
