Terminal Puerto Coquimbo (TPC) attended a simultaneous call of three vessels, two of them destined for project cargo and a third dedicated to the transfer of copper concentrate.

“The operation was carried out safely and efficiently, reinforcing the port’s role as a multipurpose actor capable of handling diverse cargoes in parallel,” emphasized the concessionaire of the Port of Coquimbo.

The vessel BBC Edge arrived at the terminal with a set of special cargoes for the energy and mining industry, including spare parts and two electrical room modules. In total, it mobilized 129 tons of high-value equipment for ongoing projects nationwide.

In parallel, the BBC Iceland unloaded 798 tons of components and specialized items, including batteries, spare parts, and critical elements for mining operations that require high-standard logistical solutions.

These operations were joined by the vessel Western Stabaek, which entered the port with 10,500 tons of copper concentrate, “reaffirming the strategic importance of TPC in the mining export chain of the Coquimbo Region and the country,” underlined the entity.

For her part, Laura Chiuminatto, general manager of TPC, commented that “the simultaneity of these three vessels demonstrates the port’s ability to respond with flexibility and coordination to complex operations. Our team works with high standards of safety and efficiency, which allows us to handle very different types of cargo and offer a service that meets the needs of the region and its productive sectors.”

Meanwhile, from the Empresa Portuaria Coquimbo (EPCO) it was indicated that “in the Port of Coquimbo we continue to promote the region’s foreign trade. We highlight the operations of the past weekend, such as the loading of cargo via Site 3 and the relevant project unloading operation carried out at Sites 1 and 2. These simultaneous maneuvers reflect our multipurpose service capabilities, a real and reliable solution for exporters and importers who choose our port to transfer their products safely and efficiently.”

Likewise, the Regional Governor of Coquimbo, Cristóbal Juliá, emphasized that “the Port of Coquimbo is a key piece for the economic and logistical future of our region, especially in the face of the challenge of consolidating the Bioceanic Corridor that will connect us with Argentina, Brazil and the Atlantic markets. Its capacity was demonstrated by simultaneously attending two project cargo vessels and a vessel with copper concentrate, mobilizing diverse and highly complex cargoes with efficiency and safety.”

“With these operations, TPC continues to strengthen its position as a modern, versatile port prepared to receive high-value and large-scale cargoes, contributing to the region’s competitiveness and the development of the main industries that drive the economy of the north of the country,” concluded the TPC statement.
