El Puerto de San Antonio, through the activity of its concession terminal operators, transferred 1,304,066 TEUs between January and August 2025, consolidating a 10% increase compared to the same timeframe last year.
According to figures released by Empresa Portuaria San Antonio (EPSA), the total cargo moved in eight months of 2025 reached 15,298,793 tons, representing a 1% increase compared to the 15,078,855 tons recorded in 2024.
Regarding the breakdown by type of cargo, containerized cargo rose 1.2%, going from 11,497,932 to 11,631,508 tons. Breakbulk cargo showed a growth of 35%, increasing from 269,775 to 365,146 tons.
Positive figures were also observed in the vehicle segment, with a 26% increase that allowed for the transfer of 181,967 units. Meanwhile, liquid bulk grew 4%, going from 611,259 to 636,964 tons, while solid bulk experienced a slight decrease of 1%, falling from 2,699,889 to 2,665,174 tons.
During August 2025, the port moved a total of 1,922,486 tons, meaning a 3% increase compared to the same month the previous year. That period also saw a 12% expansion in TEU transfer.
In this regard, the general manager of Puerto San Antonio, Ramón Castañeda, valued the results, stating that “the growth that cargo transfer has recorded this year is a positive signal that projects us towards what will be the movement in the last months of 2025.”
“The good performance of the concessionaires, port workers, and other actors in the logistics chain should motivate us to continue working jointly to strengthen the logistics system, as the increase in cargo transfer also means employment opportunities for San Antonio,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that El Puerto de San Antonio surpassed one million TEUs transferred in July 2025, which occurred after completing the movement of 1,142,898 TEUs in seven months of 2025, achieving a 9% growth compared to the same timeframe in 2024 (1,046,897 TEUs).
