Shipping Industry Network news, Thai dry bulk shipowner Precious Shipping (hereinafter referred to as “Precious Shipping” or the company) disclosed that it has agreed to purchase two Chinese-built Ultramax bulk carriers, continuing to accelerate its fleet renewal plan.
Specifically, the Bangkok-listed shipowner disclosed that its wholly-owned Singapore subsidiary recently acquired two Ultramax bulk carriers under construction at Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding: Hull No. YZJ2022-1447 and YZJ2022-1448, scheduled for delivery in January 2026, with a price of approximately $37.25 million or 1.204 billion Thai Baht per vessel.
It is reported that the seller is Jaldhi Overseas, which had ordered four Ultramax bulk carriers in 2022.
At the same time, Precious Shipping is also active in the second-hand market. Precious Shipping stated that it is actively advancing its strategy of renewing the fleet by selling older vessels and acquiring new ones.
In September, Precious Shipping spent $65.1 million to acquire two Japanese-built bulk carriers, namely the “JAL KALPAVRIKSH” and the “JAL KALPATARU”, through its wholly-owned subsidiary.
On November 21, Precious Shipping disclosed the sale of one 2010 Indian-built Supramax bulk carrier, the “Warisa Naree”, for $9.5 million, expected to be delivered to the new owner between November 25 and December 20, 2025.
On October 31, Precious Shipping disclosed the sale of one 2005-built Handysize bulk carrier, the “Chamchuri Naree”, for $8.25 million, expected to be delivered to the new owner between November 10 and December 1, 2025.
Furthermore, in May 2024, Precious Shipping placed an order for four 63,500 DWT Ultramax bulk carriers at Taizhou Sanfu Shipbuilding, expected to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.
Including the two latest purchased vessels and the four newbuilding orders mentioned above, Precious Shipping will operate a fleet of 46 bulk carriers, comprising 18 Handysize vessels, 13 Supramax vessels, 11 Ultramax vessels, and 4 cement carriers, totaling 2.2 million deadweight tons.
