The Intermodal Port Logistics Club of the Euro-Region (Cliper) of the port of Bayonne has held the last of its 2025 meetings with a meeting dedicated to customs performance, document management and the energy transition. Furthermore, students from the Lycée Agricole Saint-Christophe presented their projects on the circular economy, biodiversity and aquaponics, a symbiotic system that combines aquaculture with hydroponics.

The meeting, which was held in Anglet, in the Olatu building, one of the two that together with the Izarbel in Bidart (both in the French Basque Country), make up the Estia business innovation technology institute.

Attendees were able to see presentations by Vivien Bendriss, from the Bayonne Regional Customs Directorate, dedicated to customs news and its potential for the development of the French Basque port. Also speaking was Arnaud Pierre, from the consulting firm Rydge, which provides support to companies on issues such as accounting, finance, human resources, taxes and legal, focused on electronic invoicing, performance management and cross-border management security.

Also speaking was Jorge Oyarzabal, from the energy company Repsol, who spoke about innovation, sustainability and energy performance in the fuel and petroleum sector, before moving on to see the exhibition by the students of the Saint-Christophe institute.

The president of the Cliper Club, Stephane Hubert, announced the schedule and content of the meetings planned for next year, usually on the last Thursdays of odd-numbered months. Thus, the first of them will take place on January 29 with the theme of digital twins and industrial management.

This first meeting of the year is scheduled to feature interventions by Pierre Parent, founder of Kaleon Industries, and Johann Cerceau, director of the Suez company’s recycling facility in Bayonne. Thus, it is about showcasing the application of digital twins, which have become the essential tool for making strategic decisions more reliable, simulating complex industrial scenarios, optimizing operational performance, anticipating technical, organizational and supply chain risks, and accurately measuring the financial and logistical impact of changes before committing resources.

In an increasingly unstable industrial and environmental context, the ability to test, model and predict becomes a decisive advantage for securing investments, improving plant performance and structuring performance plans.

The meeting schedule will continue with a cross-border visit to the Jundiz rail intermodal terminal in Vitoria, on March 26, and for June 25 a presentation of the industrial capabilities of the port of Bayonne has been scheduled.

September will bring the celebration of the ninth edition of the professional meeting dedicated to professionals in grains, fertilizers and animal nutrition in the French Southwest, Agri’Vrac, on September 24, an occasion for the Cliper Club’s autumn kick-off meeting. Finally, on November 28, the end-of-year meeting will be held, which will address a current topic.

It should be remembered that, throughout the current year, the Intermodal Port Logistics Club of the Euro-Region (Cliper) of the port of Bayonne has met on 5 occasions.

The first, in January, was dedicated to the presentation of companies based on short pitches in which each member had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the rest of the attendees.

In March, the members of Cliper met on the south side of the border to get a close look at the decarbonization projects in mobility offered by the firm Irizar e-mobility for the presentation of its range of hybrid and electric buses, coaches, and trucks, as well as the advances in hydrogen fuel cell technology for long-distance transport.

In May, the meeting day turned into a tribute to Juan Iguarán, a key figure in French Basque transport and logistics, on the occasion of the official inauguration of a new logistics warehouse for Silos de l’Adour in the Blancpignon area (Anglet). And in September was the appointment with the VIII edition of the Grain Exchange, Agri’Vrac, the quintessential event in the port of Baiona.

Next year, 5 cross-border meetings will be held
