Shenyang, Oct. 14 (People’s Daily Online) — Reporter Wang Siwen: According to information obtained by the reporter from China Railway Shenyang Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Railway Shenyang Bureau), on October 14, a China-Europe freight train fully loaded with 54 forty-foot containers slowly departed from the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Assembly Center bound for Moscow. With this departure, the total number of round-trip trains operated by this assembly center has exceeded 2,000, fully highlighting its important position as a core logistics hub in Northeast China.

The China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Assembly Center was officially put into operation in 2023. Over the past two years, it has transported over 220,000 TEUs of goods, served more than 2,000 domestic and international enterprises, maintained an average annual import and export value exceeding $200 million, and its train operation volume has steadily ranked first in Northeast China. In 2024, the number of return trips at this center reached a record high, marking the gradual formation of a “mutually beneficial situation” for foreign trade promoted by the China-Europe Railway Express.

Wang Dong, General Manager of the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Assembly Center, stated that the operational scale of the center has successfully driven the agglomeration of enterprises in cross-border e-commerce, high-end manufacturing, and other sectors in Shenyang, promoting the deep integration of industrial and supply chains. In the first nine months of this year, the export of local specialty products via the trains saw significant year-on-year growth, while high-quality overseas goods were efficiently transported back, achieving smooth two-way trade.

Currently, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Assembly Center has a storage capacity for 2,600 standard container slots and can meet the operational demands of 1,500 China-Europe freight trains annually. It has realized a development pattern of “one train driving, multiple cities联动, and multimodal transport.” It has now established transport channels connecting six major ports including Manzhouli and Suifenhe, with a network covering over 50 cities in more than 20 countries such as Russia and Germany. Its cargo sources radiate across the three Northeastern provinces and economic core areas like Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta, handling over 5,000 types of commodities, thus building a stable cross-border logistics supply chain.

It is worth mentioning that this year, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Assembly Center achieved a record high of 9 round-trip trains in a single day, realizing leapfrog growth. This is attributed to the continuous hardware upgrades of the hub by China Railway Shenyang Bureau, which optimized station layout and upgraded /unloading equipment, driving the simultaneous improvement of the assembly center’s storage capacity and operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, to improve the transit efficiency of the China-Europe Railway Express, China Railway Shenyang Bureau relies on its self-developed railway logistics information platform to achieve real-time data sharing between customs, railways, and enterprises. Customs clearance efficiency has been improved by over 50%. The trains now take approximately 12 days to reach Russia, which is three times faster than sea transport, with costs only one-fifth of air freight. Particularly, the premium “Shenyang-Bely Rast” China-Europe freight train, first launched in August this year, takes only 10 days to reach Moscow, achieving efficient direct “hub-to-hub” connectivity both domestically and internationally.

As the only national-level China-Europe Railway Express assembly center in Northeast China, its development directly benefits nearly a hundred enterprises. In the future, China Railway Shenyang Bureau will continue to densify the Eurasia logistics network, continuously enhance Shenyang’s radiating capacity as a logistics node in Northeast Asia, and contribute railway strength to building a new development pattern and promoting the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.
