After Byd, another of Beijing’s automotive big four chooses the port of Livorno as its landing port in Italy. The cars are stored in the Il Faldo compound in Collesalvetti. The car manufacturer chooses Xca as its logistics partner

Livorno – After Byd, Dongfeng also chooses Livorno as its port of landing in Italy. At the Tdt terminal on the East side of the Livorno port, the landing from the Ugr car carrier to the Reef of over 1,100 vehicles from the Chinese company took place yesterday. Dongfeng is one of Beijing’s “Big Four” automotive companies, active in the production of passenger cars (especially electric ones), commercial vehicles, buses, and components. Founded in 1969 and today among the main global players in the sector, Dongfeng Motor Corporation is one of the symbols of the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers in the European market: a phenomenon that is reshaping logistics flows between Asia and Europe and requires increasingly integrated and efficient solutions.

Coordinating all onshore activities, from the dock landing to handling, up to the storage of the vehicles today in the yard of the “Il Faldo” compound in Collesalvetti (Livorno), was the company Xca (specialized in integrated logistics for the automotive sector) in collaboration with the Maritime Agency Giorgio Gragnani and with the companies Cpl and Cipl.

Managed by Xca since May 2025, the Il Faldo compound is one of the most extensive automotive logistics facilities in Europe, equipped with internal railway connections and full services. In turn, the port of Livorno is a strategic gateway for Asian mobility towards Europe, thanks to its geographical position, direct railway connections with the continent’s main hubs, and fifty years of specific experience in the sector.

“We chose Il Faldo for the potential of its services – comments Tommaso Conti, advisor of Xca and operational manager of Il Faldo – We are extremely happy to have brought this infrastructure back to the center of port logistics for the automotive sector, proposing it as a reference point for international flows arriving from the Far East. Livorno represents the main port for car imports with about 630,000 vehicles, to which we add our 55 years of experience in managing car import and export. I recall the year 1970 when my grandfather started the export activity of Peugeots produced in France and destined for the Maghreb countries.”

Xca – a note explains – is a young company founded in 2023 as a company specialized in integrated logistics for the automotive sector, with an offering ranging from road transport to storage and preparation of vehicles for final delivery. Born from the union between the Conti family (co-founder of the Arcese Mercuri group) and the Arcese family, a leader in multimodal transport in Europe, and a great specialist in the automotive sector, Xca has a fleet of 50 owned car carriers and operates in strategic hubs such as Vado Ligure, Civitavecchia, and Ravenna. It is a founding partner of the Vlv joint venture with Fratelli Cosulich, active in the Vado Ligure yard.
