Molslinjen’s new electric ferry Tyrfing, after a long voyage in harsh weather from Turkey, has arrived at Svendborg Shipyard, where the final adjustments are now being made before the ferry, 14 days later than planned, is put into service on the route between Ballen and Kalundborg,

“The ship has battled harsh weather all the way from Turkey, and we could see how one weather system replaced the other, so the ferry couldn’t do much else than seek shelter and lee”, says Molslinjen’s CEO, Kristian Durhuus.

This meant, among other things, an unplanned stop in the Portuguese Setúbal, where the ferry had to await better weather.

“It is very unfortunate, but here we are dealing with circumstances that we have no control over. We cannot control the weather and must unfortunately admit that the journey home became more challenging and longer than hoped”, says Kristian Durhuus.

The delay means that the plans to put Tyrfing into operation on December 1st are moving. The new plan means that Tyrfing can be expected to be in service on the route between Ballen and Kalundborg on December 15th.

The delay has just been approved by the Ministry of Transport.
