The Gemi Brokerleri Derneği (GBD) brought together its members and leading representatives of the maritime sector at an iftar dinner it organized at the Büyük Kulüp.
Attending the iftar program were; İMEAK Deniz Ticaret Odası Vice President Recep Düzgit and board members Adnan Naiboğlu, Burak Akartaş and Serhat Barış Türkmen, Türk Armatörler Birliği President Cihan Ergenç, DenizTemiz Derneği/TURMEPA Board President Şadan Kaptanoğlu, Wista Türkiye Board President Melike Aysu Gürgan, and the presidents of civil society organizations in the maritime field.
Emphasis on unity and solidarity from Onur Türkeş
In his speech, GBD President Onur Türkeş drew attention to the spirit of sharing and solidarity in the month of Ramadan, saying:
“On behalf of myself and my board of directors, we are very pleased to come together with you at our traditional iftar table. Last year, instead of setting up our iftar table, we chose to share our budget with our citizens living in the earthquake zone in Hatay. This year, we are once again gathering at the same table, refreshing the values of our profession and our friendships in the spiritual climate of Ramadan.”

Türkeş emphasized that one of the association’s most important goals is to make Turkish ship brokering a strong brand of institutionalism, trust, and quality in world shipping.
Bosphorus Ship Brokers Dinner tickets sold out
In his speech, Türkeş also provided information about the Bosphorus Ship Brokers Dinner, one of the sector’s most important international-scale organizations, announcing that its 7th edition will be held on June 26, 2026, and that all tickets are already sold out.
Türkeş said, “The fact that the tickets for this major gathering are sold out is a separate source of pride for us. Feeling the support of our Chamber of Maritime Commerce by our side at all times is extremely valuable to us. I also extend special thanks to our sponsors who contribute to our organization.”
Ramadan wish
Stating that he wished for the month of Ramadan to bring health, peace, and abundance, Türkeş concluded his speech with the words, “I wish for a blessed and abundant Ramadan evening where the observed fasts are accepted.”
