The new Liebherr LHM 420 crane ordered by Interporto Rivers Venezia has docked at Porto Marghera, after a long journey that began in Rostock, Germany. A note from the port terminal controlled by Orlean Invest Holding underlines how the investment, with a total value of over 5 million euros, constitutes for the company “a further important piece in the development and growth plan of the Marghera terminal” which “recorded in 2025 growth rates on the order of over 30% for landed ships and volumes of goods handled compared to the previous year”.

The new crane will be assembled on Tuesday and will also be ‘greeted’ by Matteo Gasparato, extraordinary commissioner of the Northern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority.

“The LHM 420 will not be just another ‘simple crane’ to rely on but ‘the’ crane, as it concentrates the most advanced technological discoveries in the field. EVO 6, this specifically is the name of the technology, will allow enormous savings in terms of energy efficiency” is written in the terminal operator’s note, which highlights among its innovations “a new control system, advanced sensors, a Pactronic hybrid system that, through the intelligent use of energy, reduces consumption and polluting emissions, making it a cutting-edge solution for handling goods and bulk materials”.

The new lifting equipment, equipped with a dual electric and internal combustion engine, “will also contribute to the implementation of the development project for the project cargo sector, in addition to providing greater consolidation, strengthening and development for the bulk sector (already active for the commodity categories of clinker, cement, agri-food, steel products, sands and ashes)”.

The development plan of Interporto Rivers Venezia is supported by an important program of investments planned for the /2026 biennium for a total of approximately 15 million euros, of which, in addition to the crane, the following interventions are part: the consolidation works of a portion of the state-owned quay under concession (within the ongoing renewal program with AdSPMAS); the project for the digitalization and computerization of /vehicle flows; the redevelopment of the former-Eckart area to be used mainly for project cargo and the /automation of infrastructure and facilities in plants, machinery, and real estate components; the completion of the 1 MWH photovoltaic park which will also allow the connection of the new Liebherr MHM 420 crane, as part of a broader environmental sustainability project for the port terminal.
