Recently, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Institute for Advanced Ocean Studies released the latest aerial footage of the Shenzhen Ocean University (Phase I) campus construction. Currently, the residential zone has completed fire acceptance and preliminary final inspection, the main structure of the science and education zone has been topped out, and the construction of the library and administration building is accelerating. The entire campus (Phase I) is expected to be fully completed by December 2026.
Shenzhen Ocean University
The Shenzhen Ocean University (Phase I) project is located in the Baguang area, Kuichong Subdistrict, Dapeng New District, Shenzhen, south of Paiyashan Road and east of Hengke Road. With a total investment of 5.512 billion yuan, the campus has a total construction area of approximately 600,500 square meters. Construction officially commenced on July 20, 2023. The main construction includes teaching and research clusters, a gymnasium, a library, student dormitories, faculty dormitories, and other facilities, as well as the Deep Sea Science and Research Center and the Ocean Museum (on campus). Concurrently, Shenzhen Ocean University Phase II (Ocean Museum) was officially approved and assigned a project code in September 2024, and Shenzhen Ocean University Phase III (Deep Sea Science and Research Center Pier) is being accelerated.
Upon completion, the university will be an international, high-level, Double First-Class new research university, bridging the industry-university-research linkage in the marine field and promoting Shenzhen’s accelerated development into a global marine center city.
