Nearly three thousand people have visited the facilities of the port of Santander since the beginning of the year to learn, first-hand, about the activity that takes place in the Cantabrian infrastructure. Seven hundred have done so through the program intended for individuals, while the rest belong to schools and other types of associations.

The president of the APS, César Díaz, stated that the figure reached “is very significant,” as it highlights “the great interest that the port generates among the residents of Santander.” “For us, it is a satisfaction that citizens want to come and see our facilities and that we can convey to them the fundamental role this infrastructure plays in economic activity and job creation throughout the region,” he added.

Díaz announced that, due to “this success of participation and the high demand we continue to receive to carry out this activity, we have decided to increase in 2026 the number of guided tours to give the opportunity to a greater number of people to get to know the port area.”

Starting in January, the guided tour for individuals will take place twice a month. In the morning, at 10:30 hours, on the first working Wednesday of each month, and in the afternoon, at 16:30 hours, on the Thursday of, approximately, two weeks later. During the summer months, two monthly tours will also be offered, but always in the morning.

All interested persons can register through the link: or through the Oficinas del Vecino located in the civic centers of the Ayuntamiento de Santander (Tabacalera, c/Alta, Nueva Montaña, San Román and Cueto -Juan de Santander-).

This activity, which is free of charge and begins at the Estación Marítima, offers, for two hours, a tour of the main commercial docks and the fish market. During it, the history of the Port from its origins, its economic and social importance, and the basic lines of its future development are explained.

The initiative is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility actions of the APS and the fulfillment of the general management objectives of the Marco Estratégico to highlight the contribution of port activity to its socioeconomic environment.
